revival
so yesterday was about the last straw. i decided i wanted to go fishin. (that's right...no 'g'.) so i left and went to the bank and started driving out to where i wanted to go fishin. shearon-harris reservoir. it took awhile to get out there because of traffic, etc. by the time i got nearly there i was so tired of living in a city, i was about to scream.
it was starting to drizzle a little bit by the time i got out to the pier to fish and i wasn't about to let that stop me. i pulled out my emergency poncho and started fishing in the rain. it was great. i ended up talking to a kayaker (one who kayaks?) while the lightning was scaring me away from using my 5.5 foot graphite lightning rod to cast. then the clouds cleared away and the rain stopped. it was great. i fished for about another hour on my own before some people showed up to start fishin. but before they got there, there was this great rainbow. i could actually see one end of it on the lake (the trees at the water level had all the shadess and tints passing over them).
when i felt that the pier was too crowded i started driving around on some roads that i'd seen for about 2 or 3 years, but had never driven down. one of which led to the boat ramp i'd seen from the fishin pier. but just a little further down one of these roads, the pavement stopped. there are still gravel roads left in wake county! i cannot tell you how happy this makes me. so off i went down it. needless to say, i exercised 4x4 twice (admittedly probably unnecessarily) and the blazer is muddy. i needed it. i saw two deer (one still had spots), a snake (common black racer variety), a gull, and a heron. yesterday afternoon was great.
then on the way back to civilization, i drove back a different way. there had always been rural highway to where i was going. but this road (nicely paved) led by the place that gives my house electricity and a house with sheep. it turns out this road actually has an exit off the main highway i use to get to that same place. i think it probably shaved 10 minutes off my ttf (travel to fishin') time.
later, we went to see v for vendetta again. what a great movie. i caught so many things in it that i had not caught before. it is totally worth going to see.
